Tucson Gets Russian Premier at MIMS 2004
Tucson - Winner of the Moscow Motor Show's Grand Prix
Hyundai Motor Company presented its full lineup of vehicles at the Moscow International Motor Show 2004 held at Expocentr in the Russian capital from August 25~29. Hyundai's display area covered 460 square meters and included a total of 10 vehicles led by the all-new Tucson. Also notable was the fact that Hyundai Tucson was awarded the Grand Prix of MIMS 2004.
Za Rulliom, Russia's leading automotive publication, conducted a poll of the most popular cars and brands at the MIMS 2004 Grand Prix examining three categories, namely Breakthrough Car of the Year, Customer Trust and The Best Car.
Hyundai Tucson, whose Russian premiere took place at MIMS 2004, was voted by a wide margin as the most attention-getting new car at the exhibition and was awarded the Grand Prix honor, the Golden Pegasus for "The Best Car" in the motor show.
It is not the first time that the statuette of the mythical flying stallion marked the outstanding achievements of Hyundai Motor Company in Russia. In 1996, Za Ruliom's Grand Prix was awarded to the new Hyundai Sonata, and since its establishment in 1994, Hyundai vehicles have been nominated for the trophy at almost every annual Russian automotive exhibition.
In the Russian market, one success follows another for Hyundai Motor Co. During the first seven months of this year, the company sold 23,227 units led by the Getz supermini to capture a 12.8 percent share of the Russian market, second only to Toyota.
