August 4 Hyundai Motor Co. to Supply VIP Buses to Kremlin
(Seoul, Korea) Hyundai Motor Co. has won an order to supply 50 AeroExpress HSX buses to the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.


The Hyundai bus fleet will be in the public spotlight serving as the official shuttle transporting VIPs between the airport and the Presidential Guest House. The Hyundai buses will also be used by officials of the President's administration, parliamentary staff, the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Foreign Affairs as well as by the Russian Security Service for commuting between offices and residences. In addition, the buses will see service at state functions including state visits and the annual meetings in Moscow of the presidents of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
"This will really help raise Hyundai's profile in the Russian market," said Choi Johng-Sik, executive vice president of the Commercial Vehicle Sales Division. "We're both pleased and proud because we managed to clinch this order against a field of very tough European manufacturers. This speaks volumes about the competitiveness of the Hyundai product and paves the way for greater penetration of the Russian market," added EVP Choi.


"The Office of the President sets the tone for the entire administration so this sale will undoubtedly open the door to more contracts with other ministries and state organizations," said Valentin Gretchman, President of Hyundai Com Trans, the official distributor for Hyundai commercial vehicles in the Russian Federation.


The order will be filled in three installments with the first delivery set for October. Hyundai AeroExpress HSX buses are equipped with the D6AC diesel engine delivering 340hp. A number of the units will be built to VIP customized specifications which include 25 plus one limousine bus-style seating with leather faced seats, twin doors, a public address system including an LCD TV and VCR.


Hyundai Motor Co.'s Commercial Vehicle Division enjoyed a banner year in 2003 as it posted sales of xxxxx units of which xxxx units were exported.
