Hyundai Aug Sales Up 24.6 Pct to 224,537 Units |

(Seoul, Korea) On the heels of steep decline in July sales, Hyundai Motor Co. regained its stride in August as global sales climbed to 224,537 units, up 73.9 pct over the previous month. Korean sales of passenger cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles reached 51,314 units for a 82.6 pct m-o-m improvement while overseas sales totaled 173,223 units for a 71.5 pct m-o-m gain.

| The company´s sedan sales in the Korean market rose by 116.7 percent m-o-m to 31,246 units on the back of strong demand for the all-new Elantra (Avante in the Korean market) and Sonata which claimed the number one sales spot. Sales of SUVs and minivans posted a 27.8 percent jump to 8,252 units fueled by brisk sales of the new Santa Fe. Sales of sedans, SUVs and passenger minivans totaled 39,498 units for a 89.2 pct gain over July. |

August export shipments from Hyundai´s three Korean factories combined with sales by the company´s four overseas manufacturing subsidiaries reached 173,223 units, up 71.5 pct from July. The Indian, Chinese, Turkish and U.S. plants posted sales of 76,600 units in August, up 8.4 percent m-o-m. August shipments from Hyundai's three Korean factories totaled 96,623 units, up by 218.3 pct over the previous month.
Jan-Aug exports from Korean factories total 750,147 units while overseas plants saw their sales jump 47.3 pct y-o-y to 565,759 units.
