Nov. Sales Up 14.4 Pct M-o-M for Hyundai |

(Seoul, Korea) After a sluggish October, Hyundai Motor Co. posted strong sales gains in both the Korean and overseas markets as November sales hit 259,310 units, up 14.4 percent over the previous month. Domestic sales rose 6.2 percent to 53,827 units while overseas sales were up by a dramatic 16.7 percent over the prior month to 205,483 units.

Domestic Passenger Cars, Minivans, SUVs

Led by strong sales of the Sonata (11,239 units), sales of passenger cars edged up by 2.4 percent m-o-m to reach 31,072 units. The new Elantra (badged as Avante in the Korean market), captured the number two sales spot with deliveries of 9,892 units while Grandeur/Azera trailed in third place with 6,982 units.

Sales of SUVs and minivans reached 9,045 units with the new Santa Fe leading the way based on sales of 3,862 units. Tucson sales remain strong with sales of 2,679 units while the new Veracruz took third place with sales of 1,597 units.

Commercial Vehicles

Sales of buses and trucks were brisk in November as 13,710 units were sold, up 7.1 percent over the prior month.

Export Sales

|
Overseas shipments from Hyundai's three Korean plants reached 124,863 units in November, an increase of 29.5 percent over October. Overseas manufacturing subsidiaries in India, China, Turkey and the United States saw their sales reach 80,620 units, up 1.3 percent over the previous month. The first eleven months saw cumulative export sales growth by 8.5 percent year-over-year to 1,895,699 units.
