GENEVA - Mar. 4, 2008 - The iBlue "near production" concept, realistic and achievable advances in CO2 reduction, head the news from Hyundai at this year´s Geneva Motor Show. Also, the Sonata and the Matrix receives a major facelift. Additionally, on the concept front, the HED-5 "i-Mode" showcases possible future monocab developments.
Green house gases are currently a major issue in the European markets. So, as a company that has always prided itself on ecological friendliness and innovation, making a positive response was an irresistible challenge to Hyundai. The i10 blue, i10 blue CNG and i30 blue models demonstrate how existing technology can make a significant (up to 29%) reduction in CO2 emissions, without punitive penalties in price, performance or driving enjoyment.
Ecological considerations have also played a major role in the choice of materials and construction techniques featured on the "i-Mode". Revolutionary developments from innovative companies such as Keiper, Bayer and LG also highlight the long-term cooperation that Hyundai sees as a major facet of future developments.
On the model front, the Sonata has become the standard carrier across the world for Hyundai in the D segment. The Sonata that regularly tops the US polls for customer satisfaction becomes even more European in both performance and style. Meanwhile, the Matrix extends the appeal that has firmly established it among the first choices of the B-MPV segment.
In addition, Hyundai is displaying a complete line up of 2008 models including Santa Fe, Coupe, Tucson and Grandeur.
